Item Description

500g Organic Stoneground Barley Flour (1 Packet)

BARLEY, the forgotten & ignored grain from Tibb-e-Nabawi

Barley is indeed a blessed and noble grain, specially chosen by the Almighty Allah for His beloved Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Wholegrain barley possesses one of the lowest glycemic indexes among all grains, making it beneficial for the health and well-being. A  supreme source of nourishment, containing the highest amounts of dietary fiber; both soluble and insoluble. This abundant fiber content aids in digestion.

Barley is repeated again & again in various Tibb-e-Nabawi foods: the blessed Barley bread itself, Thareed, Saweeq drink (Sattu), Talbinah, Hasaa, Barley Water, Barley soups, & Hais with barley’s Saweeq & dates.

How to include Barley in your diet:

Talbinah: made by adding 1-2 tablespoons of wholegrain barley flour to one and a half cups of water. Boil until thickens. Can also be added to thicken soups and gravy and also increase its nutritional content.

Alternatively you can make barley porridge by using milk instead of water.

Thareed: Break barley chapati into small pieces and then pour hot mutton/chicken soup over it. Leave it for a few minutes so the barley chapati absorbs the soup.

Hais: 500 g pitted dates, 500 g Barley's Saweeq (Sattu), 250 g of Ghee/Olive Oil, Seeds & nuts of your own choice (lotus seeds, flaxseeds, sesame seeds, ground almonds, fennel seeds, cardamom, pumpkin seeds, melon seeds). Fry pitted dates in ghee, when they change the color, add all the seeds & nuts, fry for few minutes, finally add Barley's Saweeq (Sattu) & mix well, your hands will get tired. Fry for 10 minutes more & strike with a wooden spoon so that all ingredients are homogenized properly. Hais is a blessed confectionery & you will love it Insha'Allah.
