اللّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ، دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ، وَأَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ، وَعَلاَنِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ
“O Allah, forgive me all my sins, the small and great, the first and last, the open and secret.”
(Sahih Muslim 483)
2. Uqbah bin Amir (RA) reported that Muhammad (PBUH) recommended using the following phrase when prostrating,
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأَعْلَى
“Glory is to my Lord, the Most High.”
(Sunan Abi Dawood 869)
3. Aisha (RA) reported that one night she missed Allah's Messenger (PBUH) from the bed, and when she sought him, her hand touched the soles of his feet while he was in the state of prostration; they (feet) were raised and he was saying:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ، وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ، لا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ، أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ
“O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your anger, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment. I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot praise You enough; You are as You have praised Yourself.”
(Sahih Muslim 486)
There are other moments within Salah when making dua is encouraged:
a. Between the two prostrations
The Prophet (PBUH) taught to say this between sujood:
اللهم اغفر لي وارحمني واجبرني واهدني وارزقني
“O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, strengthen me, guide me, and provide for me.”
(Sunan Abu Dawood 850)
b. After the opening Takbir (Du’a al-Istiftah)

c. Du’a al-Qunut in Witr prayer

Al-Hasan ibn Ali (RA) reported:
“O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, pardon me among those You have pardoned, turn to me in friendship among those on whom You have turned in friendship, and bless me in what You have bestowed. Save me from the evil of what You have decreed. For verily You decree and none can influence You, and he is not humiliated whom You have befriended, nor is he honoured who is Your enemy. Blessed are You, O Lord, and Exalted.”
(Sunan Abu Dawud 1425)
This supplication reflects our reliance on Allah’s guidance, mercy, and protection.
d. While bowing (Ruku’)
Although the primary purpose of Ruku’ is glorifying Allah, the Prophet (PBUH) would also supplicate during bowing.
Aisha (RA) reported that he used to say:
“Glory and praise be to You, O Allah our Lord. O Allah, forgive me.”
(Sahih Muslim 484)
