Our Health is a precious gift from Allah Almighty. Often, when we are free from illness, we don’t fully realise its value. But remember, just like wealth can come and go, good health isn’t always promised in life.
However, Allah has power over everything. We can ask Allah for a good, healthy, and long life. There are many such duas in the Quran and Hadith that we can make for ourselves, our parents, children, friends, and Ummah.
In this article, we’ll share six Arabic duas for health along with transliteration and translation.
Quick Bonus: It can be hard to memorise these duas easily and turn them into your habit. And what if you make mistakes? In such cases, it is better to have a reliable dua book on hand that includes daily duas from the Quran & Hadith. It makes your practice easier & more consistent.

Here is the list of Duas for a healthy and long life, adapted from the Quran and Hadith:
It is recommended to recite the following du’a three times in the morning and evening, asking Allah for good physical health, in sight and hearing.
Allaahumma 'aafinee fee badanee, Allaahumma 'aafinee fee sam'ee, Allaahumma 'aafinee fee basaree, laa 'ilaaha 'illaa 'Anta. Allaahumma 'innee 'a'oothu bika minal-kufri, walfaqri, wa 'a'oothu bika min 'athaabil-qabri, laa 'ilaaha 'illaa 'Anta.
“O Allah, make me healthy in my body. O Allah, preserve for me my hearing. O Allah, preserve for me my sight. There is none worthy of worship but You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is none worthy of worship but You.”
(Sunan Abu Dawud: 5090)
Context: Abdur Rahman (RA) reported that his father, Abu Bakr (RA), would recite this dua three times in the morning and evening. When asked, he said he heard the Prophet (PBUH) recite it and liked to follow his example.
Aishah (RA) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) used to treat some of his wives by passing his right hand over the place of ailment and used to say,
"Remove the suffering, O Lord of mankind, and heal it completely. You are the Healer. There is no cure except Your cure. Grant a cure that leaves no disease."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari 5743)
This powerful dua reminds us that no matter what illness we face, ultimate healing only comes from Allah. Reciting it regularly brings comfort and strengthens our trust in His mercy.
Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) never abandoned the following supplication, every morning and evening. This dua is short yet very powerful:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ
Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afwa wal-'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah.
“O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah 3871)
It covers all areas of our lives: our faith, health, family, finances, and future. It’s a beautiful daily habit that can bring peace of mind and protection.
In the Quran, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) expresses his full trust in Allah’s healing:
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
Wa idhaa maridtu fahuwa yashfeen.
“And He (alone) heals me when I am sick.”
(Surah Ash Shu’arah, verse 80)
This short verse is a perfect reminder whenever we feel unwell. It strengthens our reliance on Allah’s ability to heal us completely, no matter how small or serious the illness.
In the face of adversity, Prophet Yaqub (AS) remained resilient and patient. He made the following dua for relief from the pain of being away from Prophet Yusuf (AS). Indeed, Allah responded to him and brought his family back to him.
Annee massaniyad-durru wa anta arhamur-rahimeen.
“Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”
(Surah Al-Anbya, verse 83)
This dua teaches us that even in the darkest times, we should turn to Allah with patience and full hope in His mercy. It’s a beautiful supplication for those going through long-term illness or emotional struggles.
When visiting someone who is unwell, Islam teaches us not only to comfort them but to make dua for their healing:
أَسْـأَلُ اللهَ العَـظيـم، رَبَّ العَـرْشِ العَـظيـم أَنْ يَشْفـيك
As'alullāha ‘l-`Aẓīma Rabba ‘l-`Arshil-`Aẓīmi an yashfiyak.
“I ask Almighty Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to make you well.”
(Hisnul Muslim 148)
Saying this dua when visiting the sick brings comfort, reminds them of Allah’s mercy, and creates a beautiful bond of care and faith between Muslims.
One thing each Muslim should understand is that while making dua is a powerful way to seek Allah’s help during illness, Islam also encourages us to take practical steps to care for our health.
Our Prophet (PBUH) has told us many simple practices that can protect our bodies and strengthen our well-being. It’s important to combine duas with these remedies and healthy habits as well.
Staying away from what Allah has forbidden is the foundation of a healthy life. Consuming haram foods or substances, such as alcohol and pork, can harm both body and soul. It is mentioned in the Quran:
“O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allah.”
(Quran 2:172)
When a Muslim follows the guidelines of halal and tayyib (pure) consumption, he not only obeys Allah but also protects his physical health.
The Prophet (PBUH) recommended many foods that have natural healing properties: honey, dates, talbina, olives, figs, black seeds and more.
There is even one Hadith that narrates the unimaginable power of black seeds for curing any disease:
“There is healing in black seed for every disease except death.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5688)

Regular exercise is part of maintaining the strength Allah has blessed us with. The Prophet (PBUH) encouraged activities like walking, horse riding, swimming, and archery.
“The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, while there is good in both.”
(Sahih Muslim 2664)
Even light daily activity can improve circulation, mood, and energy, contributing to long-term well-being.
Islam never discourages seeking proper medical care. The Prophet (PBUH) said:
"There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment."
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5678)
Balancing dua with medical treatment shows both reliance on Allah and taking personal responsibility for our health.

Whether for ourselves or others, these authentic duas remind us to turn to Allah in every stage of life, in sickness and in health.
